Permanent Closure of USCIS London Field Office

The USCIS London Field Office ceased to accept I-130 Petitions For Alien Relative with effect from March 31, 2020, in line with Federal Government policy to close the majority of international field offices. The USCIS London Field Office is scheduled to permanently cease operations in the UK on July 31, 2020.

If you wish to file an I-130 Petition For Alien Relative, we would recommend that you contact us, in order to seek advice on alternative methods of filing and associated processing times.

Closure of US USCIS offices due to coronavirus

On April 24, 2020, the USCIS announced that it was readying USCIS offices in the US to re-open to the general public on or after June 4, 2020.

Routine in-person services at US based USCIS offices have been suspended since March 18, 2020, in order to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission. During the time in which routine in-person services have been suspended, USCIS office staff have continued to perform duties which do not involve face to face contact with the general public.

The USCIS have previously postponed their date for re-opening and, as such, there is a possibility the USCIS may extend closure of their US offices beyond June 4, 2020. We will endeavor to keep you updated.

Speed of USCIS processing

There has been a notable and positive decrease in the processing times for those filing for spouses and immediate relatives through USCIS in the United States, particularly in an area that traditionally caused needless delay – the issuance by NVC of case numbers. Case number issuance allows the matter to proceed to consular processing. In April and May, we have observed NVC numbers being issued as quickly as the day following I-130 approval.
